Dear Surf and Turf Families and Campers,
It is with extreme difficulty and sadness that we announce the sudden and unexpected cancelation of all Surf and Turf weeks for the summer of 2020. This incident comes out of the latest state mandates which are forbidding summer camps to engage in all off-site trips and activities. This is a change from the announcement earlier proposed on May 31.
With such recent developments, the NJ Department of Health is not allowing Surf and Turf to run. As you are well aware, Surf and Turf is not defined by any one location, and prides itself on daily excursions to new and exciting destinations. This degree of spontaneity and discovery is unfortunately the reason that the camp cannot function this summer.
Please acknowledge that we have been working tirelessly with our lawyers, insurance agency and the Department of Health to navigate these latest health standards. Up until a few days ago, we had fully adapted to be in full compliance with the state’s expectations, but the department’s orders contradict the spirit of Surf and Turf and its schedule.
At this time we are asking that you refrain from contacting us with concerns about refunds - with some time to process this unfortunate situation, and work through many of the payments that have already been made with the previous expectation of a functioning camp, we will contact you.
We promise to update you shortly on the subject of refunds and vouchers, and we are very sympathetic to the concerns you may have during this time of uncertainty. Considering the lack of “office” staff at this time and the fact that we are teachers finishing up school, there can be an expected delay in update time, but please know that we are working hard, as we always have, to account for each and every one of you.
We are very sorry for this inconvenience and these unfortunate circumstances.
John and Tim
